Whether it’s Birch or Maple, the process of every single bat starts with hand choosing the perfect piece of lumber for the job.  From here, the Birdman team of experts inspect the wood for quality assurance and straightness of grains. Once a clear-cut winner is found, we mark the centers on each end, label it and put it on the lathe.  However, before it meets the “saw of destiny”, we must digitally choose the bat model in our man-made inventory of custom and stock programs . Finally, it’s go time! The billet spins and after a few minutes of nothing short of magic, a bat in it’s fuzzy infantile stage is left amidst a cloud of dust on the machine.  Like clockwork, it is then removed from it’s grasp and put back into our nurturing hands to be sanded and prepped for the rest of the finishing stages. Hot off the sanding lathe, the bat gets the remaining billet ends sawed off leaving us with a perfectly smooth, raw bat. Some folks like it this way, which means it’s closer to a final product than the others.

 

Our arts and crafts department does a beautiful job meeting the needs of every customer’s specific custom order. Our creative juices are constantly flowing as we hand-mix our dyes and spin exotic themed hydro-dipped bats in our not-so-secret workshop.  Once a bat is colored or not, it has the option to be coated in a gloss(shiny) or matte(flat) protective finish.

On deck, we have the king of customization, our laser engraver.  This nifty automated machine can engrave virtually anything on your bat to further personalize it for any occasion with words and/or images.  Now, our fully matured bats are ready for the finishing touches which include: Adding the requested tape/engraving ink color, slapping on your desired Birdman sticker, cupping the barrel end (or not) and boxing it up for shipment.

From start to finish, our personal touch and fine attention to detail makes for an incredibly high quality product you can rely on.  We see each and every bat as a unique piece of art, and more specifically, functional art. The proof is in the pudding. Our bats are beautiful and are tirelessly proven to have the power!
